What is Pixel CO2 Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing and what is it used for?
Pixel CO2 Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing precisely removes outer layers of damaged skin to reveal the underlying skin which is softer, smoother, and younger looking. It is ideal for the treatment of enlarged pores, skin laxity and texture, acne scars, skin discoloration and brown spots, and sun damaged skin. Patients experience skin tightening, reduced wrinkles and fine lines, softening of deeper frown lines and wrinkles, noticeable improved skin tone and textures, and stimulated collagen formation.
How long is each treatment? How many treatments will I need?
The appointment time for a Pixel CO2 treatment is around two hours. You come in to sign consents, take before pictures and then sit with a topical numbing agent for about an hour. After that, the procedure itself is very quick. Depending on the area being treated it is usually over in twenty minutes. Typically a single treatment is all that is needed, however some decide to repeat this treatment in a year or two.
Is Pixel CO2 Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing painful?
Most patients say they feel heat similar to a sunburn. A topical numbing agent will be used prior to the procedure to minimize any discomfort.
What can I expect before treatment?
Prior to the day of your treatment your laser provider will discuss with you if there are any necessary products to start before and if there are any medications you may have to stop for a brief period. On the day of your treatment you will have a topical numbing agent applied to the treatment area that will take full effect in an hour after application. If the eyelids are being treated, numbing eye drops will be instilled along with protective corneal shields (steel contacts).
What can I expect after treatment?
During the consultation your laser provider will go over all of your post care instructions and what to expect after your treatment. Immediately after the procedure your face will feel hot like a sunburn, however the topical numbing cream will take effect again and work for another hour or two. Cold compresses are applied to your skin along with a post laser balm.
